Islamabad: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has paid a heartfelt tribute on the 17th martyrdom anniversary of the Punjab Police personnel who sacrificed their lives during a bomb blast in Islamabad while performing their duty. ‘We salute the heroic sons who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty and extend our deepest respect to their families,’ said IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.
According to Punjab Police, on July 06, 2008, nine officers and personnel of Punjab Police were martyred in a bomb explosion while on duty in Islamabad. The martyrs included one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), one Head Constable, and seven Constables. Those who embraced martyrdom were ASI Muhammad Nawaz, Head Constable Atta Ullah, Constables Abid Rasheed, Khalid Mehmood, Babar Ali, Shahid Maqsood, Haq Nawaz, Amjad Iqbal, and Qamar Abbas. Punjab Police continues to honor the sacrifices of its brave officers who laid down their lives in service to the nation.
