Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the design of the Gujranwala Mass Transit System. Chairing a meeting in Lahore today, she stated that the project would revolutionize the transport facilities in Gujranwala, providing citizens with a modern and efficient travel option.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of connecting every area of Gujranwala to the metro train through feeder buses. This connectivity is expected to enhance accessibility and convenience for the residents of the city.
To improve traffic flow, two tunnel sections are set to be constructed as part of the project. Furthermore, in-principle approval has been given for 17 to 19 kilometers of the transit line to be built underground, which is anticipated to minimize surface-level congestion.
Additionally, the project will incorporate sustainable energy solutions with the installation of solar systems at every station and depot, demonstrating a commitment to environmentally friendly infrastructure development.
