Karachi: The Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has announced that electricity generated from Thar coal is now reaching three million homes. Addressing the Sindh Energy Conference in Karachi, he highlighted the province’s significant role in Pakistan’s energy sector, emphasizing its abundant resources, including Thar coal, wind, solar, and other renewable energy sources.
According to Radio Pakistan, Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that Thar is currently the most cost-effective source of electricity generation in the country. He further mentioned that the provincial budget has allocated 25 billion for solar energy initiatives this year, aiming to enhance the renewable energy infrastructure in Sindh.
The Chief Minister also noted that the Sindh government is supplying 100 megawatts of low-cost electricity to Karachi from Nooriabad, underlining the province’s commitment to addressing energy needs and reducing electricity costs for its residents.
