IIOJK: APHC Reiterates Call for Complete Shutdown on Sunday to Mark Kashmir Martyrs’ Day

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has reiterated its call for a complete shutdown across Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday to mark Kashmir Martyrs’ Day.

According to Radio Pakistan, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, also urged people to march towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib in Srinagar to offer Fateha for the 22 martyrs who laid down their lives on this day in 1931. These individuals were part of thousands assembled outside the Srinagar Central Jail during court proceedings against Abdul Qadeer, who had called for defiance against the tyrannical Dogra rule.

Meanwhile, occupation authorities placed senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest today, barring him from offering congregational Friday prayers at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid ahead of the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day. In a post on social media platform X, Mirwaiz urged authorities to lift curbs to allow Kashmiris to peacefully pay homage at the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib on Sunday.

On the other hand, the New Delhi-controlled State Investigation Agency, backed by Indian paramilitary and police, raided multiple locations in Kupwara, Jammu, and Doda districts, targeting individuals under the pretext of supporting the freedom struggle. Indian troops also continued cordon and search operations in various areas of Poonch district for the past two days.
