Lahore: The 67th martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, was observed on Friday. Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, born in Hoshiarpur city of East Punjab on July 22, 1914, is remembered for his indomitable spirit and bravery in the face of adversity.
According to Radio Pakistan, Major Tufail Muhammad was assigned in August 1958 to launch an offensive against Indian forces in the Lakshmipur sector of erstwhile East Pakistan. During this mission, he displayed extraordinary bravery and unwavering resolve, leading his troops in a daring assault against enemy forces. Despite being critically wounded, he continued to fight with exceptional valour and successfully accomplished his mission, an act that earned him the nation’s highest military honor, the Nishan-e-Haider, a symbol of unparalleled gallantry and supreme sacrifice.

Religious scholars emphasized that the blood of martyrs never goes in vain and hailed Major Tufail Muhammad as a brave son of the soil who will forever live in the hearts of the people. They remarked that such individuals, who laid down their lives for the nation’s honour, undoubtedly deserve the highest respect and reverence.
