National Minorities Day Observed with Focus on Rights in Pakistan

Karachi: The National Minorities Day was observed today [Monday] with the aim to highlight their religious and socio-economic rights in Pakistan. The day is dedicated to recognizing the contributions and rights of minority groups within the country.

According to Radio Pakistan, the declaration to mark National Minorities Day was adopted as part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This initiative seeks to secure the rights of those belonging to religious, linguistic, national, or ethnic minority groups, ensuring that their voices are heard and respected within the broader socio-political landscape.

The observance of this day also commemorates Quaid-e-Azam’s historic speech to the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947. In his address, he pledged equal rights and freedom of religion for all citizens, emphasizing the importance of unity and equality among the diverse populations of Pakistan.
