OGDCL Reports Major Oil and Gas Find at Faakir-1 Well in Khairpur

Islamabad: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a major oil and gas discovery at the Faakir-1 well in Khairpur, Sindh. The discovery is part of the company’s exploration efforts within the Bitrisim Exploration License area and is a joint venture with Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL).

The Faakir-1 well, spudded on December 31, 2024, reached a depth of 4,185 meters in the Sembar Formation. OGDCL, holding a 95% interest, led the drilling operation, working closely with GHPL.

Tests conducted on the Lower Goru Formation revealed promising results. The well is producing 6.4 million standard cubic feet of gas and 55 barrels of condensate per day through a 32/64″ choke.

This find is considered a milestone for the Bitrisim Exploration Licence, enhancing the block’s viability and extending its productive lifespan. The discovery underscores the potential of the Lower Goru Formation’s Basal and Massive Sands.

OGDCL and its partner are committed to maximizing the hydrocarbon potential of the block. The discovery is anticipated to contribute significantly to meeting Pakistan’s energy demands with local resources, boosting the country’s hydrocarbon reserves.
