Pakistan-Azerbaijan Ties Strengthened Through Parliamentary Delegation Visit

Baku: A parliamentary delegation from Pakistan, led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to discuss the advancement of fraternal brotherhood and strategic partnership between the two countries. The discussions underscored Azerbaijan’s commitment to justice and adherence to international law amidst the ongoing Israel conflict.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, emphasizing that their ties are based on brotherhood, mutual support, and solidarity. The President recalled the participation of Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) held in Khankendi, where they engaged in extensive discussions on the bilateral agenda. He expressed confidence that the Pakistani delegation’s visit would further enhance cooperation and strengthen the partnership between the two nations.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the significance of inter-parliamentary relations, noting that both countries have consistently supported each other during challenging times and moments of celebration. He highlighted Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, which sent a strong message of solidarity to the international community. Sadiq also recalled two resolutions adopted by Pakistan’s National Assembly under his leadership, condemning Armenian aggression and reaffirming support for Azerbaijan.

The Speaker congratulated President Aliyev on the successful organization of the 17th ECO Summit in Khankendi and appreciated Azerbaijan’s reconstruction efforts in its liberated areas, particularly in Nagorno-Karabakh. He noted the critical role of these initiatives in fostering regional stability and economic revival.

Furthermore, Speaker Sadiq highlighted the potential for enhancing connectivity through improved road networks and the establishment of direct flights between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, which have facilitated easier travel and strengthened bilateral cooperation.

President Aliyev welcomed the mutual support extended by both nations’ parliamentary delegations within international forums and emphasized the importance of further enhancing inter-parliamentary relations and institutional cooperation.

Speaker Sadiq noted that the Pakistani delegation included members from both the ruling party and the opposition, reflecting a unified stance within Pakistan’s National Assembly in support of Azerbaijan. The delegation included MNAs Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Mr. Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, Chaudhary Iftikhar Nazir, Mr. Sadiq Iftikhar, Mr. Umair Khan Niazi, Mr. Muhammad Moin Aamer Pirzada, and Mr. Nazir Ahmed Bhugio.
