Islamabad: NLC and DP World are collaborating to create “Pakistan Mart” in Dubai, a tax-free trade center with over 500 outlets for Pakistani exporters. The initiative, announced at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), aims to significantly expand commerce with Central Asia, Russia, China, and Tashkent using road freight, while also offering reduced rates for goods returning to Pakistan.
NLC Director General Major General Farrukh Shehzad Rao stated that this venture will capitalize on the strong regional demand for Pakistani merchandise. He highlighted NLC’s significant role in Pakistan’s road infrastructure advancement and pledged full support to KATI members in accessing markets in China, Russia, and Tashkent.
KATI President Junaid Naqi lauded the plan, acknowledging the historical difficulties Pakistani exporters faced in reaching Central Asian consumers. He predicted the initiative would boost exports and generate valuable foreign exchange, describing Pakistan Mart as an exceptional, tax-free platform for global product promotion. He also commended Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for his emphasis on trade development.
DP World Vice Chairman Fakhar Alam revealed that Dubai’s government is providing land and infrastructure for Pakistan Mart at no cost. He confirmed the absence of taxes, duties, and VAT on business activities, adding that visa processing and logistics will be co-managed by NLC and DP World. The facility will include display areas, showrooms, and storage, enabling direct global re-shipment from Dubai.
KATI Deputy Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya praised NLC’s advanced logistics and engineering prowess, calling Pakistan Mart a significant growth prospect. He stressed the importance of robust logistics for national prosperity and encouraged NLC to extend its services to smaller manufacturers.
