Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended gratitude to the US and Iranian leadership for responding positively to his request for a ceasefire and accepting Pakistan's sincerity for establishing peace. Addressing the federal cabinet meeting held in Islamabad today, he also expressed gratitude to the Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Turkiye, Indonesia, Egypt, Azerbaijan, and the United Arab Emirates, for supporting Pakistan in its peace efforts.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister stated that the war has been temporarily averted and the ceasefire is the first step. He emphasized that the next goal is to establish long-lasting peace, development, and prosperity. The honor that Allah Almighty has bestowed upon Pakistan, he noted, cannot be obtained through effort alone, but is due to the collective and untiring struggle and sincerity of the entire government team. He further mentioned that Allah Almighty also bestowed Pakistan with great success on the diplomatic front.
The Prime Minister highlighted that from Tokyo to London, and from Casablanca to Kuala Lumpur, all TV channels are mentioning Pakistan in a manner he has never witnessed in his entire life. He expressed that the flames of this war had not only engulfed the region, but were also spreading across the entire world, with more than a month having passed since the war began.
Shehbaz Sharif pointed out that attempts were made to incite Muslims of different schools of thought to fight among themselves in this war. He mentioned that conspiracies were hatched on the internal and external fronts to create rift among Muslims, which have ultimately failed. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that the political and military leadership was and is on the same page, which averted the war, and announced that US and Iranian delegations will visit Pakistan tomorrow on his invitation.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the fear of war will end and lasting peace will be established with the blessing of Allah Almighty. He remarked that he had never seen such coordination and selfless efforts in political and military leadership over his forty-year career. Applauding Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Prime Minister commended his untiring efforts and consistent consultations with the US and Iranian leadership alongside Pakistan's political leadership for the country's highest and noblest objectives.
Shehbaz Sharif shared that he held a telephonic conversation with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and assured him that the entire nation of Pakistan stands with Saudi Arabia. The Prime Minister also thanked President Asif Zardari for his support and expressed gratitude to Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for guiding him with his vision.
