Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities concerned to boost the country’s online trade participation by taking tangible measures. He was speaking in Islamabad during a meeting with a delegation from the international e-commerce company Alibaba International Digital Commerce, led by President of International Markets James Dong.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted that over three hundred thousand Pakistani businesses are currently selling locally manufactured products through e-commerce platforms. He emphasized that in today’s digital era, e-commerce is a powerful driver of export growth and a vital component of the government’s vision for an export-led economy.
James Dong commended the significant role of Pakistani entrepreneurs in global trade via e-commerce. He noted that Pakistani textile products are among the most purchased products on Alibaba’s platform. Dong also expressed his keen interest in providing technical training to entrepreneurs to help boost the presence of Pakistani traders on the Alibaba platform.
