Iran: Power generation in the country has improved due to increased water releases from dams, resulting in a reduction in load-management duration from 6 hours to between 2.5 and 3 hours. This was stated in a statement issued today by a spokesperson of the Power Division.
According to Radio Pakistan, the power situation in the country improved significantly last night due to increased water releases from dams. The spokesperson said that around 30,000 cusecs of water were released from dams last night, compared to 8,000 cusecs released the previous night. The increased water discharge led to a substantial rise in hydropower generation.
Hydropower generation, which stood at 1,800 megawatts the previous night, surged to 4,100 megawatts due to the higher water release, reflecting an increase of 2,300 megawatts. The rise in hydropower also facilitated the transmission of an additional 400 megawatts of electricity from the southern region to the national grid, as improved power availability in the central region helped reduce stability issues.
The statement further said increased water demand from farmers will lead to a further rise in hydropower generation. The spokesperson expressed confidence that the temporary issue of load management will be resolved soon with the early availability of LNG and further increases in hydropower generation.
