Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed provision of comprehensive financial assistance to people living below the poverty line.
According to Radio Pakistan, while chairing a meeting in Lahore today, she stated that the government's foremost objective is the welfare and support of the common man. She emphasized that the Social Welfare Department will be transformed into a public-friendly institution on the pattern of European countries.
The Chief Minister highlighted that financial assistance is being extended to low-income groups through the Ration Card scheme.
Furthermore, she instructed the establishment of orphanages for destitute children across Punjab and urged collaboration with credible NGOs for the welfare of women and children.
