Defence Minister Hails Pakistan’s Role in Middle East Ceasefire

Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said Pakistan's involvement in securing a ceasefire in the Middle East is a moment of pride and great honour in the country's history. He highlighted this achievement during a discussion regarding the ceasefire announced between Iran and the United States.

According to Radio Pakistan, Khawaja Asif stated that the diplomatic success has elevated Pakistan's stature on the global stage. He noted that the entire world, including the European Union, Muslim countries, and other friendly nations, is commending Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts. The Defence Minister expressed confidence that peace will prevail, the Strait of Hormuz will reopen, and oil prices will decrease.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar emphasized Pakistan's desire for peace and its concern for regional stability and security. He called for unity in supporting Pakistan's peace initiatives and urged the opposition to reconsider its protest plans in light of upcoming talks in Islamabad. He informed lawmakers that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will personally brief the National Assembly on Pakistan's diplomatic efforts regarding the regional situation.

The House deferred the Question Hour to focus on the evolving regional context, as proposed by the Law Minister. Leader of the Opposition Mehmood Khan Achakzai expressed national pride over Pakistan's diplomatic achievement and extended unconditional support to the government's peace efforts.

Ali Muhammad Khan highlighted the unity of the Pakistani people with Iran and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the country's goal to promote unity among Muslim nations. Raja Pervaiz Ashraf remarked on the significance of the day in Pakistan's history, urging collective efforts to face challenges.

Minister for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination Syed Mustafa Kamal described the ceasefire as a major diplomatic success and stressed the importance of domestic stability to maintain external gains. Gohar Ali Khan commended those involved in securing the truce and expressed hope for permanent peace in the Middle East.

In anticipation of Pakistan's role in achieving durable regional peace, Gohar Ali Khan announced the postponement of the opposition's scheduled public rally. Minister for the Board of Investment, Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh, expressed confidence in declining petroleum prices and increased investment in Pakistan post-conflict. He suggested that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal deserve the Nobel Peace Prize and should be nominated by US President Donald Trump.
