Islamabad:Pakistan has firmly rejected the allegations made by the Afghan Taliban regime concerning civilian casualties resulting from Pakistan's counter-terrorism operations.
According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan dismissed these claims as baseless and unsubstantiated, emphasizing that such disinformation will not obscure the threat posed by terrorist networks operating from Afghan territory. Khan highlighted that the Afghan Taliban regime has a responsibility to prevent its soil from being used for attacks against Pakistan, which have resulted in over 3500 casualties in 2026 alone.
The spokesperson further noted that the Taliban continues to shelter various terrorist organizations, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the Balochistan Liberation Army, which threaten regional peace and stability. He asserted that thousands of Pakistani civilians have been victims of terrorist attacks planned and supported from Afghanistan.
Khan stated that Pakistan's actions in response to these attacks are a legitimate exercise of its right to self-defense, conducted with restraint and in adherence to international principles. He urged the international community to hold the Taliban regime accountable for its obligations under UN Security Council Resolutions to prevent Afghan soil from being a terrorism launchpad.
Lastly, Khan affirmed Pakistan's right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and the safety of its nationals.
