Islamabad: Speakers at a youth conference emphasized that the pursuit of freedom for Kashmir from Indian control will persist until it is achieved.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the event was organized by the Kashmir Email Forum and underscored a renewed commitment to the cause. Participants expressed confidence that the struggle would eventually succeed, urging the youth to actively engage in the movement. Hurriyat leader Zahid Safi attended the conference as the chief guest.
Raja Fazil Tabassum, Chairman of the Kashmir Email Forum, Professor Raja Umair, and student representatives from various universities addressed attendees. Zahid Safi reiterated that the quest for Kashmir’s liberation would continue unabated. He highlighted the sacrifices made by thousands of Kashmiris and the challenges faced by women in the region. He stressed the importance of youth involvement in the ongoing struggle.
Safi also appealed to the Indian government to honor commitments made at the United Nations, urging the international community to facilitate a plebiscite and ensure Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. He expressed gratitude towards Pakistan for its consistent support, particularly on Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Raja Fazil Tabassum encouraged young people to contribute to the One Million Kashmir Email Campaign, emphasizing its significance. He predicted that the campaign would mobilize the international community and lead to freedom for Kashmiris. He also called on India to respect Kashmir’s right to freedom, drawing parallels to Israel’s policies.
The event concluded with a collective effort by participants to send an email to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, advocating for a plebiscite in Kashmir.
